Contaminated Awareness

Venus and Mars, Sandro Botticelli

This 500-year-old painting by Botticelli has had various interpretations over the years.  Some say it represents the love relationship between Giuliano de'Medici and Simonetta Vespucci; others relate it to Poliziano's Stanzas.  The most widely held opinion is that it represents Venus and Mars in a Neo-platonic allegory of Reason, Harmony and Civilization having conquered the sleeping Mars, symbol of war and violence.  Although apparently no one knows for sure just what Botticelli had in mind, we shall add our own interpretation.

As Awareness stares uncommunicative into space, Four Little Dual Basic Urges are tormenting sleeping "I".
